About
Me
My name is Nicole Phipps and I'm a lover of all things French, from way back!
I have loved the French language since my very first lesson at the age of 12.
Throughout my high school years in Western Canada, I continued my studies of the French language and was inspired so much by my French teachers, that I became a one myself!
I completed my Bachelor of Education at the French Faculté Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta - earning a Certificate of Bilingualism - and upon graduation, taught one year in a French Immersion middle school before moving to Sydney, Australia.
In a teaching career that has spanned twenty-five years in Australia, I have taught piano lessons, European and Asian languages at my studio and in public and private schools. I have taught students in Kindergarten to Year 12 and specialise in the HSC French Beginner and Continuer courses.
Whilst I very much enjoyed classroom teaching, I found myself wishing to concentrate on the much wider community of French learners - et Voilà ! - Amuse-bouches et Conversations (lovingly nicknamed "ABC French") was born - ou né.
Having learned French as a second language myself, I am well aware of the challenges, and have a personalised and supportive approach to my teaching to help students overcome the obstacles they face.
Join me in your discovery of the ABCs of French!
